Eligibility Requirements & About the Community Fund

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations as designated by the Internal Revenue Service. Public agencies may also apply but may be required to submit additional proof of tax-exempt status. The organization need not be based in Baker County or North Powder, but the project must demonstrate a direct benefit to our community.

About the Community Fund

The Leo Adler Foundation Community Fund provides annual grants to charitable organizations in arts and humanities, education, health, social and historical welfare, children and youth, civic and environmental causes, and other fields. The Community Fund focus parallels Leo Adler’s interests during his lifetime and the potential impact for Baker County and North Powder. Annually, the following organizations receive a contribution from the foundation in honor of Leo Adler’s memory, as established through his Last Will and Testament:

Selection Criteria

The Leo Adler Board of Directors is comprised of seven (7) individuals who have been given absolute discretion to select and award project grants. Guided by Leo Adler’s legacy, the awards reflect the Foundation’s Core Values. The Committee consists of six (6) members from the Baker County and North Powder community as well as one (1) member from First Republic Trust Company. Learn more about the Committee.

Applicants shall be evaluated and selected by Committee Review. Each of the following factors are taken into consideration:

Keys to Success

We encourage you to carefully consider the following questions prior to starting your application:

  • How does this project fulfill a need in the community?
  • What do you hope to accomplish?
  • What are your project’s chances for success?
  • Will this project make a lasting difference?
  • How will you leverage funding from the Foundation to achieve your goals?
  • Who will be your primary partners?

 

All applicants must also be prepared to submit the following supplemental materials:

  • Project Budget & Estimated Sources of Income
  • Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet)
  • Profit and Loss Statement*

 

*Depending on the conclusion of your fiscal year, you must upload documents to support the most relevant financial snapshot to showcase your organization’s overall financial health. If your fiscal year just ended, you should upload the previous year’s complete financial documents and provide a current year-to-date statement.
